...Somewhere in a Fly-Over State....MONOLITH!!!

Hi all,

Well here is the second of my Photo-Dump posts.  Last time we looked at some of the excellent gaming that happened at Oldhammer in the Jerz...

...this time lets look at some pics from a slightly smaller event.

Just one week after the "Jerz Incident" I found my self on a plane flying across the country...past major Metro areas...

But ending my trip in the middle of some random Fly-Over state whose name I forget...

Here I met up with the rest of the Monolith boys (minus K) and and we quickly sequestered ourselves in the basement for the entire weekend...

...it was Glorious!!!

...it was like I was 14 again...except with much better terrain and completely painted armies!

There were games of Rogue Trader, Warhammer Fantasy 3rd ed, Rogue Ops,....we attempted to capture Ambulls and to free Frogs frozen in Carbonite.  We fought Zombies, Orks, A horde of Chaos...Squat operators...the Emperors finest, Space Pirates, exploding Dogs and all manner of other combatants.

Hell...we even played Heroquest!!!

As I said...

...it was Glorious.

Luckily my compatriots were much better at taking pictures and documenting the battles for future Blogging...to get the real story check out the following Blog posts of those more talented than myself.

Ambull Hunting
Beach Landing RT Style
HeroQuest
Chaos Vs. Dwarfs
Rogue Ops
Rogue Ops 2

I contented myself with just gaming as much as possible and having a great time doing it...

Anyway...Like I did with the Jerz event...here is a photo dump of some of my favorite pics from a really amazing weekend of Oldhammering...

Orctober...Part I

Hello all,

As you may have notice this "Orctober" thing seems to have grown steady over the last couple of years...The first I had heard of it was on Erny's wonderful Blog and on the Oldhammer forum...a casual challenge among friends to get some Orcs painted...but it now seems to have taken on a life of it own!

...I'm not complaining of course.  Any excuse to paint Greenskins is a good excuse to me.  Though I haven't painted any of my own for a long time...the classic Orcs and Goblins hold a special place in my collection, second only in size to my dwarf collection.

Space Raiders are coming

Hi all,

I just wanted to make a quick post about an ongoing Kickstarter Campaign that all fans of classically styled figures and sculpts by Kev Adams need to be aware of....

...The Space Raiders 2 Campaign

This, second, Space Raiders Campaign is centered on a group of five truly inspired Ork sculpts by Kev Adams...these guys are heavily armed and armored and are each very impressive.

...here are a few

In addition to the Orks there is also a very interesting "super" Gretchin...which happens to look something like a space version of everyone's super fat, regenerating, Goblin hero...

As you can see the level of detail and character in these figures clearly display the talents of the Goblin Master, Kev Adams.

And if that wasn't enough there is also the ability to add-on figures from the first Space Raiders KS Campaign which includes a wide variety of classic sculpts.

If you want to see a few more take a look at the campaign here:

Space Raiders: The Orcs are Coming!

But don't hesitate...there are only 4 days left!  the campaign ends on Monday June 13th.

The Campaign is doing great and additional figures are being added to the campaign as Stretch Goals...If you like what you see stop over there and support this fantastic project!

Cheers,

Blue

Jenkins!? Where the Hell is Jenkins?!?!

After many failed attempts my local gaming crew was finally able to get together to play a game of Rogue Trader 40K last weekend...and we had a ton of fun.  I had four players and acted as GM myself and it was about the perfect sized group for the game I had in mind.

For a scenario I fell back on the one that Dustin and I played at OHNW 2015 which was a blast to participate in and turned out to be just as much fun to GM.

Lets get into it!

Background
After several months of fighting aboard the large Space Station (Excon Valderz) that orbits the planet Putney Prime in the Outer Rim Territories, Imperial Forces were finally able to force Ork Radiers led by Narblaz the Nasty to retreat to the planet surface.  Here Narblaz regrouped and attempted to salvage something out of his failed mission by exerting control over the planets surface.  However, Imperial forces followed him planetside in hopes of eliminating this Ork scourge once and for all.

Blue's Year End Re-Cap. 2015...what a long strange trip it's been!

As with many Oldhammer Bloggers this seems to be the right time to review the last twelve months and take a look at what I was able to accomplish and perhaps look to set some goals for the coming year.

I'll look at things in fairly broad categories:
  • Painting
  • Gaming
  • 2016 Goals

Oldhammer in the New World Event Recap Day 2

After the epically long gaming session on Friday night I woke on Saturday and shuffled off to breakfast in a daze.  The water eggs and weak coffee did little to improve my mood...but by sheer force of will I was back down in the event venue by 9:30am...

...and the sight that great me gave me enough energy to carry on through the rest of the day!

After we had all stumbled off too bed, the intrepid Brian K. had stayed up to set up the enormous New Alamo Table that he had built over the previous couple of months.  This amazing set up was front and center in the room and was bound to be the center of attention for the entire day....at least for me.

In the morning and early afternoon....which I only vague recall due to lack of sleep and coffee, there were a number of other games that took place as well.  For one the Green skin horde of Sean S. took on a combined force of Chaos (provided by ABG) and Dark Elves (provided by Adyer).  This game took place on the excellent table provided by Rusty and proved a fun and lively game...unless you were the orcs...in which case there was also a lot of dieing and Running away...

Sadly I failed to capture even a single picture of this game...so I will have to refer you to the excellent report posted by Sean that covers the action in some detail.  It can be found HERE

I believe there were also some other gaming going on...maybe Heroquest...?  Maybe BattleMasters...? Like I said its all kind of a blur at this point.

What I do recall clearly is the siege of the New Alamo!  Brian K. really pulled something special together with this game.  Its sheer size was impressive and the fact that it ran so smoothly for such a long time is testament to the amount of work and forethought that he put into it.  The action was fast and furious with the momentum of battle swinging from one force to the other with shocking regularity...Lets look at some pics!

For Awhile it seemed as though the Orks would obviously prevail...but with stubborn resistance by forces like the Penal Legion seen above and the pesky Space Marines that wouldn't die the battle seesawed back and forth.  At one point Santa Orka Himself mounted the walls and entered the enclosure...only to be jumped by an Imperial Assassin and a Murder bot.

But in the end the Imperial forces were able to maintain control of the central landing platform that was the goal of the attacking forces.

Suffice to say that great fun was had by all and this will go down in my gaming history as one of the best games that I have had the privilege to participate in.

In addition to the Big Alamo game, Saturday also saw the Event painting contest.  There were many fun entries for all the categories and a great number of very well painted figures involved.  Again I apparently forgot to take any pictures of these goings-on and so will have to refer you to ABGs excellent Blog post about the contest.  You can find that HERE

The overall winner of the painting contest was Mike C.  Who entered an amazing RT halfling cook model that was head and shoulders above the rest despite it diminutive size.  As a prize Mike received a large Warhammer as a Trophy.  Being the gracious guy that he is, Mike decided to leave the hammer with us to pass along as the award for the next contest as well...but not before leaving his mark on it for posterity.

The fun didn't wrap up until well after Midnight...and driven out of the room by the thumping bass of the Nigerian Baby Shower that was (inexplicably) still going on next door I scooted up to my room and quickly passed out with visions of burning Drew-bots and imperial murder-bots filling my dreams.

Cheers for now!
