"Message for you Sir!!!" -Bret Casualty Figures

Hi all,

Back with a quick post about two newly painted figures.  These are the first two figures from a rather unusual "side quest" that I have undertaken in the already niche hobby of Oldhammer figure appreciation...that of collecting casualty figures...and specifically those that were common in almost all of citadel ranges of the 2nd-3rd editions of WFB.

These specific figures...two Bretonnians come from the short lived and poorly cataloged 3rd edition Bret range produced by the Perry Twins...which includes many of my favorite frenchie-flavored sculpts of all time.

...yes...in addition to the many 5th edition Bret figures you have seen grace the pixels of this blog...I also have an entire 3rd edition Bret army...that waits patiently in the to-do pile...:)

Its fine...I can quit when ever I want!  I swear! Trust me...lol

Anyway...onto the figures.  One is your traditional casualty...lying flat on his back arms akimbo, staring vacantly into space as darkness closes in...

The other is a bit more interesting...in that this poor bloke is in the process of  becoming casualty.  Suddenly an arrow has sprouted from his chest and he is none to happy about it!! lol...  Though it does bring to mind one of my favorite scenes from Holy Grail...

Blue's Most Wanted...

Howdy all,

Life continues to keep me from getting much accomplished on the hobby front...though I have not been completely idle and hope to have something substantive to show for it soon.

However I have not been completely idle on the collecting front.  Luckily for me my wants list is getting pretty short.  On the downside the last 10% of any collection takes 90% of the time to find...

So in an effort to move that process a little further down the road to completion I thought I would put up a quick post showing my Most Wanted Miniatures!

To kick things off I have only one last Chaos Centaur to find to finish that range...I'm really excited to get some paint on the ones I have and finding the last one will certainly give me some motivation to get them started!

Next up is another Chaos model...this time from Marauder.  Though I am not a big fan of their chaos steeds I do like their warriors and this one has proven very difficult to track down.

I'm also trying to track down the last three mounted squires from the 5th edition Bretonnian range...Though these guys are not technically "Oldhammer"...rest assured that they will be used with 3rd ed rules!
In addition to the 5th ed Bret models there are still quite a few of the 3rd ed Brets that are proving a real challenge to track down...specifically in the Brigands and Mounted Yeoman ranges.

On the Dwarf front I have nearly everything that I "need" except for a few outliers.  In particular the casualty figure on the bottom of this picture is one I'm hoping to find before I rehab my Prince Ulther's Dragon Company.

I seem to have a strange affinity for casualty models and while I have assembled quite a few of the unfortunate...there are still many I'm hunting down.  These Norse ones being a good example...but if you have any damaged warriors of any race that you are looking to move on let me know!

And finally....my nemesis figures...the last three Marauder Wolf Riders I need to complete my set.  I know you have heard me moan and cry about these before...but they still elude me.  I have been actively searching for these guys for at least 3 years now with no luck.  If you have even one of these let me know....I'll make it worth your while!!! (shuddup Chico!)

In case it helps here are some additional pictures of these three.

Though I'm sure other desires will arise in the future if I can secure even a few of these elusive figures I will be much closer to fulfilling my main collecting goals.

If you can help in anyway please let me know!

Cheers,

Blue

Dead Lead...Casualty Figures Part 1

Once again life has been draining me of the will to write blog posts.  After spending most of my day in front of a computer screen I just have not had the inclination to do more of that when I get home.

Wah wah poor me...pity party over..:)

On to more interesting things.

While my figure painting and blog writing had been slow, somehow I've still found the time to keep adding new figures to my collection...yes yes I know you are surprised to hear that.... ;)

My latest addiction has been casualty figures.  Why?  I can't really say where the interest has come from but I'm just going with it.

Today I received two wounded brettonian figures from the 3rd ed era that I have been trying to track down for quite a while now...and thanks the that most gentlemanly of collectors...Bridgend Steve I now can cross them off my wants list!

The more dynamic of the two is this foot knight who has just taken an arrow to the chest...

Just a great sculpt that really tells a story... Here is the back view

...and here is a special treat that I wasn't expecting... Check out his tab...it made me chuckle.  A perfect example of British understatement!

And here is a picture of the othe figure Steve sent me...as you can see this poor bloke has already succumbed to his wounds.

I look forward to trying to work these guys into my Bret army or vignettes for future LPL entries.

I'm very happy to add these to the collection.  What's your take on casualty figures?  Cool?  Or waste of time?

Oh...and by the way...if you have any spare casualty figures...of any race...please let me know!

Cheers,

Blue
