Blue's 2021 update! ...the Boar Boyz are coming!!!

 Hi all,

Sorry for the long delay between posts....I haven't been writing blog posts but I have still be painting!

Again this year I am taking part in the Old World Army Challenge.  this challenge encourages you to paint a 1000pts Oldhammer army over the course of six z months...starting in January and ending in June.  In the past iterations of this Challenge I have painted my wood elf army and last time a good portion of my Puff and Slash dwarf army.

This year I've decided to add to the Wolf Rider Horde with a group of Orc Boar Riders!  As with the wolf riders this will be a mostly Marauder based force with some citadel boar boys thrown in for good measure.

as it is already April I can up date you on the first three months of painting...so here it is!  So far I have been focusing on Rank and File boar boys and command sections.  General and his Retinue will be painted in May.

Here is my January entry,

February Entry,

a combination of both months to form a unit of mounted archers,

and here are the Boys from March,

Its exciting to see these finally coming together...when combined with the wolf riders this will make a fantastic mounted Green skin army!

Cheers,

Blue

Citadel Goblin Stickas ...a new Unit is born

 Hi all,

Today I have a few more excellent Kev Adams Goblin sculpts to share with you, and for once they have nothing to do with wolf riders!

...well..

...thats not exactly true.  😁

These are actually all goblin infantry figures that I had determined could be "converted" to fit on wolves and join my mounted force...so I painted them along with all the citadel wolf boys I showed in the last post.  But as the wolf rider project evolved, I found that I already had enough mounted archers and so, these guys would have to revert to their original function as infantry. In this case as a unit of Stickas.  So I pulled had to drill holes in their feet to pin them to the bases because I had already removed their tabs to make them into cavalry...but it was worth the effort...some great figures in this group.  Included the bearded Goblins!

First off some unit Pics...

Citadel Wolf Riders ...it begins. ...again! WIP shots PART II

Alrighty then...

Here we are again with another WIP post on the Citadel Wolf rider horde that I'm currently laboring away on.  Over the weekend I was able to get the last couple of highlights done on the Goblin Flesh portions of this group...

...and as some have expressed an appreciation of seeing WiP shots (and the fact that I find it motivating to post more often) here are a couple of pictures the horde broken down into unit types.

Here are the Melee Boyz...

Citadel Wolf Riders ...it begins. ...again!

After finishing the Marauder Wolf Riders I shared last time I have decided to move onto the classic Kev Adams sculpted versions as my next major group of figures to tackle.

...Now...I can hear you shouting "Blue!!!  What about the damn Wolves for all those riders?!?!?!"

Soon come friend!! Soon come...

I'm really enjoying painting the goblins at the moment and I intend to just push on with riders for the moment and then have a massive wolf painting extravaganza later in the spring or early summer.

I have a goodly selection of classic Citadel Goblins...enough to make two units of fourteen figures...one a melee combat unit and one a mounted archer unit.    These units are made from a mix of the original wolf rider sculpts with the addition of some infantry archers and command figures that have been "converted" to be wolf riders.

All of these figures have been picked up on the secondary market over the last couple of years and most have been stripped of old paint jobs.

Here is the whole group after being cleaned of (most) mold lines and flash...and then drilled and pinned for eventual attachment to their mounts.

BOYL 2019....I finally made it! (Pic Heavy)

(Note: this is in no way a comprehensive description of the events going on at Foundry and Warhammer World over the weekend...If I failed to mention you or your wonderful game I apologize...no slight intended...you know I love you all!!! :) )

Well...Its a festivus Miracle!!  I've finally found a way to attend a Bring Out Your Lead (BOYL) event!!  BOYL was the first and is largest of the purely Oldhammer events that happens every year.  It was first held in 2012....and every year since then I have been dissapointed to NOT be able to attend.

...But that all changed this year!  Due to some unexpected life changes in the Blue household the opportunity presented it self and I jumped at the option to attend.  This decision was made rather last minute (2 weeks before the event) but I was able to get a reasonably priced ticket and impose upon my friends Airborne Grove and Bulldog Lopez for transportation and a place to crash.

My BOYL experience actually started at Warhammer World were I joined a number of other Oldhammer compatriots for fantastic Rogue trader Realms of Chaos Warband Rumble...hosted by Colin.

Chaos Renegade #17

Hi all,

I still have to pull together my end of the year review for 2016...but this guy was done before New Years so he should really be posted up before my summary is complete...so here he is.

Once again this is quite a unique Renegade model...this one a Kev Adams sculpt (the knee pad faces are a dead give away) once again he was a joy to paint and I chose to use one of my new favorite colors, a rich burnt orange.

Here he is with the rest of squad...Individual shots are below.

...Something a little different: Kevin Adams Zippo

Howdy all!

I'm still recovering from thanksgiving...

...but wanted to take a few minutes to post about something interesting that showed up on my doorstep this week.

When it comes to collecting Warhammer related items I try to limit myself to things that I will actually use in a game someday (theoretically...:) ) ...I'm not big on hoarding un-opened blisters... or artwork... or other items that are purely "collectable."

...but sometimes you have to make an exception.  A few months ago over on FrothersUK there was a discussion about a Zippo lighter that Kevin Adams had customized by covering it with GS sculptures.  Apparently a number of resin castings were made of this...though I believe the only functional lighter is the original.  Anyway...during this discussion I mentioned that I would love to get a copy of the casting.  Several weeks later I received a PM from another Frothers member who had seen my post and had a copy he was willing to part with....despite it's complete lack of "gameability" I jumped at the chance.

...now due to some mismanagement of the deal in my end and unexpected, but totally understandable, delays on the sellers end I have only now received my copy ...so I was quite excited when I unwrapped it from its tidy bubble wrap cacoon...it's much bigger than I expected!

...and the absolute density of amazingly detailed sculpting displayed on this piece is mind blowing!
