Hi all,
I wanted to take the opportunity to post a brief recap of my "Year in Hobby: 2019 edition" ...since that seems to be the type of thing you do at the end of one year and the beginning of another.
It was a productive year of hobbying for me. I painted a quite a few figures...worked on some terrain pieces...had good games with good friends ...and finally made it to BOYL for the first time.
One of the highlights of the year for me in 2019 was my participation in the second iteration of the Old World Army Challenge. You may remember that for the first OWAC I painted up a small army of Wood elfs....this year I returned to my absolute favorite army and all but finished it off! The Puff and Slash Dwarf army!

Oldhammer in the New World: Blue's View...Day 2
Sunday found me up and ready to go by 830...despite a running battle with the rabid bacon thieves who were raiding my hotels breakfast bar all morning...ggggrrrr friggin kids!!!
Anyway...I arrived at DropZone shortly after 9am and found things just getting rolling. About a half a dozen folks were already there...including a much refreshed Blake after a good nights sleep.
After having kind of floated around chatting and what not for day one I was ready to dive right into a game...luckily for me Tom was obliging and we quickly pulled together a moderate sized pick up battle (2k-ish points) that we set up on one end of Rusty's warband table. Tom brought out his very impressive chaos army and I was finally able to get my dwarfs on table!
So I don't want to spill all the beans on the battle itself as I'm sure there will be future posts in which to tell that story. Suffice to say that Tom and I had a blast and I was overjoyed to get my lads on the table against such a well painted and led opponent. There were laughs... there were tears... and the dice gods were fickle at times but ...thats Oldhammer for ya!
I loved every minute of it!
Here are a couple of teaser pics...you'll have to wait for the rest.

Space Marine Squads...The Begining
Building upon my last post about the 'Imperial Guard" figures I will be using for 40K gaming I wanted to show you what I have working for my Space Marines. Like the Muster Troops that I will be using for Imperial Guard, the figures I will be using for my Space Marines are from Alternative Armies Ion Age range. These Retained Knights make great proxy Space Marines ...they are sculpted by Bob Olley and have a very Rogue Trader "Feel" to them IMO. Of course they were first released in the early 1990s so they are not too far off the mark from RT itself.

So...what did I buy? Dreadnought confusion...
So...earlier this week I picked up a couple of 40k pieces from eBay at a great price....namely two dreadnoughts. I was only really interested in one of them but now I'm intrigued by the other. Here they both are...
Quite a difference in style!
The rogue trader one on the left is the one I was really after. I just really dig this guy and have for many a year...every time I look at this guy...
...I think of this wonderful diorama from back in the day (the dread's down at the bottom).
The other dreadnought is obviously of a much newer vintage...but my knowledge of such things is quite limited...
...so what is this "goat skull" headed, Edward scissor hand having, walking shoebox of a dreadnought?? When was it produced? It is quite a chunk of metal that's for sure! I imagine I'll be passing him along...so is he worth much?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated...
Cheers!
Blue
**UPDATE!**
After reading the first comment I took a closer look at this dreads left arm and it has clearly been reshaped and filed down... Thanks for the tip Liam!
