Chaos Renegades...Line Art... Part 2

Hi all,

Painting time has been very scarce for the last week so I'm back with another post about the line art drawings of Chaos Renegades that are include in the Traitor legions army lists found in the back of RoC Slaves to Darkness.

Last time we looked at a few of these drawings that had corresponding figures this time I would like to look at a few of the ones that don't...and few oddities that I have noticed.

One troop type that is included in these armies lists for which there are no corresponding miniatures are those showing Chaos Tech Marines.  As we all know these are essential troop types to support your heavy weapons and dreadnoughts etc...and yet no Chaos Tech Marine figures were ever produced during the RT era.  Lets look at what the art shows us...

Chaos Renegades...Line Art

Hi all,

No new figures for you today but a follow up to the last Renegade I posted...#9...and a discussion of the line art drawings used in the Realms of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness to represent Chaos Marines.

As I have committed (perhaps foolishly) to the painting challenge over on the Herohammer International FaceBook group I have spent a lot of time looking at the army lists for Chaos Space Marines that are presented in the back of RoC: Slaves to Darkness.  This tome contains army lists for several of the famous space marine Chapters that went rogue during the Horus Heresy...and these army lists are illustrated with line art drawing that are very similiar to their fantasy counterparts in the Warhammer Armies book.  I really enjoy looking at these drawing and quickly realized that many of them are drawings of actual figures from the Renegades range.

Here are a few examples of the art work with their corresponding figures (there are many more examples of this)

Chaos Renegade #9

Hi all,

Quick post today to share Renegade #9 with you.  This was a fairly quick job but I think it turned out well and fits well with the rest of the squad.  I will have a follow on post on how I can up with this color scheme but as I have to take my kids to a museum even t right now I'm just going to get the photos up and talk about the process in a later post.

Here is Renegade #9 with the rest of his squad.  Solo pics below!

Enjoy!

Chaos Renegade # 8 Blurgle and Blubble

Hi all,

I'm in the midst of my field season at work and time has been tight for painting...but despite being exhausted most nights of the last two weeks I did mange to get one more Renegade done..

...And I'm particularly happy with this figure.

Once again I have deviated from the "normal" color associated with this Renegade...in this case a Nurgle Marine...but I hope you agree that sculpts of this quality can look good even in "unusual" colors.

For this Renegade I fell back on my traditional Blue recipe for the bulk of the armor (I never get tired of painting this blue)...but created a new (to me) yellow-orange for the edging.  I also resorted back to yellow helmet lens which ties him in nicely with the rest of the unit.

Speaking of which...here is the Unit to date...Individual pics below.

Space Raiders are coming

Hi all,

I just wanted to make a quick post about an ongoing Kickstarter Campaign that all fans of classically styled figures and sculpts by Kev Adams need to be aware of....

...The Space Raiders 2 Campaign

This, second, Space Raiders Campaign is centered on a group of five truly inspired Ork sculpts by Kev Adams...these guys are heavily armed and armored and are each very impressive.

...here are a few

In addition to the Orks there is also a very interesting "super" Gretchin...which happens to look something like a space version of everyone's super fat, regenerating, Goblin hero...

As you can see the level of detail and character in these figures clearly display the talents of the Goblin Master, Kev Adams.

And if that wasn't enough there is also the ability to add-on figures from the first Space Raiders KS Campaign which includes a wide variety of classic sculpts.

If you want to see a few more take a look at the campaign here:

Space Raiders: The Orcs are Coming!

But don't hesitate...there are only 4 days left!  the campaign ends on Monday June 13th.

The Campaign is doing great and additional figures are being added to the campaign as Stretch Goals...If you like what you see stop over there and support this fantastic project!

Cheers,

Blue

Chaos Renegade #7...Moon Moon Moon...Shining Bright...

All right!  I'm finally back with another Renegade to share.

You may recall that I mentioned that Renegade #6 was one I had to paint to take my mind off of this guy ...which took forever to finish...in fact, I have to admit that this one nearly drove me Bat Shit Crazy. I tried multiple different blues for the armor plates and at least three different colors for the edging before settling on this combo and just pushing it out...it was a long slog.  I'm still not 100% satisfied but I'm just glad that its done so I can move onto other things.

The figure in question is one of the most unique Renegade sculpts in a range known for its weirdness.
And here he is...

...Yes its a Moon-face Renegade with a Fungus body and a big ass Power Glove...you don't get much more Renegade-y than that.

When I started the long journey toward deciding on a color scheme I flailed around aimlessly for inspiration in my normal fashion...basically I searched randomly on the internet.  Eventually I managed to land on this picture of a crescent moon rising above a sunset...

Using this broad spectrum of colors as a beginning pallet I started trying to apply these colors to various portions of the model...and...well...here is where I landed...eventually...:)

Here he is with the rest of the squad...Individual pics below.
