Hi all,
Here is yet another quick and dirty blog post. This time I'm sharing the first figure that I have completed for my Frostgrave Warband which consists of classic Citadel Chaos models. In this case...a Chaos Thug Archer.
This was a, somewhat, intimidating amount of bare flesh to have to tackle...but after finishing Gaston for my Bretonnian Organ Gun it seemed a natural task to tackle.
I should also mention that this is my first ever painted Chaos Thug. While I have painted a fair number of Chaos Warriors and Choas Dwarfs I have never painted a thug...until now.
Here he is:
As a reminder here are the figures for the entire Warband...I'll delve into some more thugs in the near future.
Thats all for now!
Cheers,
Blue

Frostgrave Warband...A Start...Chaos Thug

My First Frost Grave Warband...Don't worry its still Oldhammer!
So there is some interest in the Frostgrave rules in my area and I have decided to start to pull together a warband that I can use during games in which I lose to my friend Roberto...:).
If you are not familiar with what Frostgrave is....well then you have been living under a (hobby) rock for the last year. Frostgrave is a new Skirmish game, put out by Osprey, that is focused on small warbands, 10 figures or less, led by a powerful wizard and his apprentice as they scour a long abandoned city for ancient relics of magical power.
Being the old lead head that I am I thought that this would be a perfect time to employ some of my long neglected figures in a new and interesting way....while keeping them available for potential expansion into a full fledged army for 3rd edition WFB fun....therefore I will be deploying them on square bases. BTW there is a fantastic range of figures produced by NorthStar that are specifically for Frostgrave...many of them sculpted by Mark Copplestone...but I couldn't possibly justify buying new figures when I have so many unpainted ones to chose from already...

A Brief Update
So the holiday season got the better of me this year and I got little done in the way of hobby over the last month. That said I thought I would keep my loyal readers (yes I'm talking about you...;) ) up to date on what I have been doing.
Since my last post I've been working on a couple of painting commissions...some of which I hope to share with you soon...some of which will have to wait awhile. Other than that I got exactly NO painting done...sigh. I did build a few more units...yes there are more! This consisted of basing up much of my Chaos force....insert teaser pic
More of that force to come in the future.
I also built a couple of mounted units...including this group of Oldworlder Knights (aka 4th ed. Brets)...
....sooo....the to-be-painted pile grows to mind numbing porpotions...
...best not to think about it!
I did manage to squeeze in another 3e game with my crew from work. This battle saw a mostly Empire army (including a few dwarfs and some halflings) facing off against a Chaos War Band that included Marauders, Dwarfs, Beastmen, and a Troll. This game featured even less painted troops than the last battle and we were forced to rely on very basic scenery...some would call it primitive. Anyway...it wasn't the most photogenic game but it was a lot of fun and we found out that my co-worker Paul has Magic Dice Hands! particularly when rolling for missle troops...his empire archers and handgunners mowed down huge numbers of enemy troops in this battle despite a BS of 3.
Here is one embarrassing picture just o prove that it happened...
So thats been the last month at Blue's house....I hope the next one allows me to make progress on a few of my lead piles and I'll be sure to share pictures with you if it does!
Cheers for now!

Oh What a week its been!!!
This week has seen me in a collecting frenzy! A number of things that I have been keeping my eyes peeled for have all become available...naturally they appeared all at the same time! While I didn't get an "amazing" deal on any of these pieses/figures I got them all for a fair price...and thats all I can expect.
First off a couple of pieces from the Marauder Orc and Goblin Range. I've been lusting after this Stone thrower (MM28) for a long time now and thanks to a chap on CCM I now have one in hand:
A Gentleman that I am doing some painting for...or will be soon...was able to supply 2 other classics from this range...the Orc Battle Chariot (MB6):
Additionally he sent along a copy of the Orc War Wyvren (MB8):
Which is very cool...But what makes it extra special is the its the version with the Shaman!
As if that Wasn't good enough for one week...A fellow over on the Warhammer Forum listed an amazing collection of Vintage Marauder Figures including an insane amount of Dark Elves....and of more interest to me...complete copies of the Chaos Thug Regiment (MB10)...
And the Chaos Beastmen Regiment (MB9):
So...it was a good week for my collecting bug...but a bad week for my paypal acct! And the Lead Mountain continues to Grow!
