Ewal Dvergar Crossbows ....and a Special Surprise

One of the great things about the current state of the "Oldhammer" Community are the number of small companies...and in some cases individuals...who are designing and producing figures that have that "Old School" vibe.  One of my absolute favorite ranges of this sort are the Ewal Dvergar being produced by Clam.  The Ewal Dvergar range takes its inspiration from the classic Chaos Dwarf models produced by citadel and Marauder during the heady days of the 2nd and 3rd editions of Warhammer Fantasy Battles.  Clam's figures allow a general to build a sizable force of evil stunties without having to collect innumerable duplicate copies of very hard to find and expensive classic figures

The most recent release from the Ewal Dvergar range are a selection of Crossbowmen (with fantastic "evil" crossbows..:) ) as well as a command section that is just superb.  As with the rest of the Ewal Dvergar range this figures were sculpted by the many talented John Pickford.  The core missile troops feature interchangeable helmets allowing a large number of unique builds and therefore great variety within a unit.

Here are some pictures showing the four body and beard "dollies" and the interchangeable helmets.  Additionally there are several variations of the crossbow that these figures can be equipped with.  These Crossbows are really a highlight to me...the generic crossbows that chaos dwarfs have been equipped with up to this time are just too..."normal" for chaos as I envision it....these correct that problem in a wonderful way....

Here are some pics showing how the Ewal Dvergar match up with the classic Citadel and Marauder Chaos Dwarf sculpts...as you can see some of them have also been equipped with the new Crossbows...too cool!
In this Group you will also see the new Standard and Musician that Clam has released.
Sorry about the Blue-Tac!
Here is a better view of the Command section which also includes some alternative banners

....This one too...:)
These guys are great!  I'm quite fond of the banner that is an animal pelt...particularly as it mirrors the critter that is on the Dvergar's helmet.  The "welding mask" that the musician is wearing also makes me smile.

All in all I think this is a very strong release from the Ewal Dvergar range and I look forward to assembling a unit of these Xbows and painting them up.  I still need to decide if I will use this command section for my missile unit or for a Melee unit.  Its a tough decision but its nice to have choices....something that has been sorely missed in the Evil Dwarf Figure ranges to this point.

If you missed the link to Clam's Blog Shop here it is again...go get some of these...you won't be dissapointed

  1. I love this range, I picked up most of it to date, including the well needed command group. I don't have the crossbows yet, they do look tasty...
