Simple Green to the Rescue!

Just a quick update....

...my pile of painted eBay purchases was getting quite large so I had put it into a beaker of Simple Green a couple of weeks ago before heading out on holiday.  Today I scarfed down my lunch and used the rest of my break to do the work with the tooth brush.  Many of these will be making it into my various forces...others will be coming to a sale thread near you soon!

The Whole lot

The new Core of my Renegades Force (BTW stripping those back packs is Pain in the ass!)

Some Fire power and odds and ends for my Brets
A whole mess of Marauder Longbeards
This last picture shows the begining of a unit that I will be adding to my Brettonians...I've always felt that these longbeard models didn't really fit with the Puff and Slash style "empire" dearfs that most of the Marauder range represents...in fact I sold a whole unit of these more than a year ago for just that reason.  But as I was looking at them again the other day I thought they would fit nicely with the Brets I've been working on lately.  These will represent the warriors supplied by the dwarven minning interests to their local noble...the Brettonian general.  Luckily I found a good BIN sale on eBay and got more than I need for the R&F troops....now I just need to track down the standard and find a leader for this unit...

...oh yeah...and paint them...:)

Cheers for now!

  1. Smart collection, nicely focused on just three projects, that sir is concentration.

Do you know you have the second Werner figure (from TEW) bottom right of your third picture?

  2. I did not know that...but did notice that its a pretty cool figure...is he worth a fortune?

    1. Don't think so, so many don't know who he is so he is often mislabeled. If more knew perhaps the price would go up, he is the beginnings of a whole new collection though....

  4. Looks like a fair bit of paint didn't want to budge off of those backpacks Blue.

If your keen to try & get more off, but you've run out of ideas. Try "acetone free" nail polish remover.

IMHO i reckon its the bomb!

    1. Will it melt plastic? Acetone obviously would....

    2. It will only "soften" it if you leave it for a full 24hrs. If you just soak it for a couple of hours it will work great. And it won't destroy your toothbrushes like normal acetone will.

I tried this a few years back.....trying different alternatives to smelly & sticky dettol. I've used it on old beaky space marines, badly painted grey plastic minis etc etc, works great!

Try it out on an old sprue or something first & see how you go?

  5. Nice haul of models. Adding the dwarves to your bretonnians is pretty much the same idea I've got with my old Citadel dwarves. All those heavily armoured Imperial dwarves with their tabards and plumes fit right in with my Brets.

Are you doing your Chaos Renegades with any specific Chaos power in mind? I notice you have a fair few Nurglesque marines.

    1. No I'm more of a generalist when it comes to Chaos...I prefer what modern gamers would call the "undivided"....I think. So I'm planning on a mix of my favorite renegades from what ever force strikes my fancy.

  6. Nothing like freshly stripped mini goodness. I have the minis form my recently nabbed copy of curse of the mummy's tomb sitting in the Dettol at the moment.

I notice you have 2 copies of the one-eyed nurgle marine. You... ah... looking to trade that fellow? Have a look at the bazaar on my page for trades if you're looking to trade the extra.

  7. Man, I miss eBay. I think I need to open another bank account exclusively for 'private' eBay transactions. The problem is, she'll still see the parcels. Hmmm...

Anyway - that is a stunning haul, Mr Blue - very well done. I like your idea with the dwarves, they are very 'crusaderish', aren't they? Carry on, sir. Carry on.

  8. Boy, that old chaos dreadnought brought back some memories! And you have the variant with the long legs -- very nice indeed.
