This weekend I was feeling pretty low about the number of painted figures I've been able to add to the "completed pile" over the last few months....so I decided to finally get a few decent group shots of Bretonnian warband. These are rather hasty photos...no fancy background and you can see my hobby surface as their battlefield....but I think they still make an impressive looking force.
...plus getting them all set up and pretty looking made me feel a bit better about my output for the year.
Anyway....here they are
I need a bigger backdrop!!! |
This ones more of an "enemies POV" |

Thats all for now...I hope to have new material to post soon!
Cheers,
Blue
They're lovely, Blue - I shall be coming back here for motivation in getting back on the painting wagon for my own Bretts.
ReplyDeleteThey look excellent Blue.
ReplyDeleteGreat band! Now, same thing with your dwarves :o)
ReplyDeleteWell, Mr Blue - you know how determine armies. <70 figures? Warband. >= 70 figures? Army.
ReplyDeleteI counted 72.
So congratulations on your new Bretonnian army!
Also, I like the approach you've taken - which is to paint the grunts first and move on to the heavy hitters later - a much better approach than the reverse. All in all, excellent! Well done.

stunning work Blue

Awesome! They definitely look the part.
ReplyDeleteA splendid array. Your hard work and diligence has certainly paid off and you should be very proud of 'em.
ReplyDeleteI'm sooooooo jealous, I started collecting this range when they were released but never got around to getting any of the footmen, so jealous, most of my archers are plastics too............. I'm off to sulk. They're rather amazing though.
ReplyDeleteBlue - those are terrific. I really like the color scheme. They are all excellent (though would love some close ups!). I really like the unit to the far left (blue green flag). Its just great! (they all are but that mix of colors looks incredible when you do it that well!)Simply stunning....and you just got artillery didn't you? Gonna look beautiful when they are done!
ReplyDeleteYes Artillery will be in the mix too...I'll certainly be painting up the field gun and crew that I snagged a couple of weeks ago...I'd love to pick up a vintage organ gun too. The siege bombard may have to go as I view this force as light and mobile.
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous. I've been following this project with interest and have enjoyed every post. Well done mate!
ReplyDeleteThanks for those pics, Blue.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very nice bretonnian army, beautifully painted. The color scheme is very original, with no bright colors, but I think it fits really well those footmen.
Now, I hope you'll finish the batch of knights of your october challenge !
Will you chose bright colors for the knights heraldry ? Or will you continue the blue/green scheme on them ?
(and if you ask you who I am, I'm Tancrede on the Oldhammer forum ! ^^).
The knights will use the same pallet...but with all the options. The primary colors are blue and green...but if you add in the tertiary colors I use you gain: yellow, gray, brick red, grey, and salmon as well. Plus I plan on using some white as well. So they will fit in color wise but will be a bit brighter and more varied in appearance than the grunts.
DeleteThey look fantastic Blue. The colours you've picked look very realistic without appearing dull, great job!
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff! I've just counted up my painted models so far for this year and I've got 9 done at most! Will you be adding knights at any point?
ReplyDeleteYep the Knights are in process...though I dread painting that many horses...sigh
DeleteA great 5th ed army good for 3rd too obviously. Lets see them take to the field against your orcs now.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! as soon as these guys are out of the way and a few commission piece are complete it will be time to really focus on baddies...greenskins and Chaos being first on the line up.
DeleteThanks everyone...your encouragement is much appreciated. (and needed :) )
