Hi all,
Quick post today to share the third Chaos Renegade that I have completed for my slow growing squad. For this one I picked one of the Khorne Renegades but decided to give him a completely un-Khorne-like paint job...for the reasons described in my previous post.
This one was knocked out fairly quickly while I was completing a long online training for work...I'm not 100% pleased with how the blue bits turned out...some of the ribbing seems a bit rushed. But...its done...varnished and based so there is no going back now...:)
Well...here he is with his buddies...and individual shots below.
BTW....I still hate painting these terrible backpacks. I have only carried on with these because they were already glued on and primed....and I'm a lazy man...:) I can't wait to move onto my Renegades that have the metal or more modern backpacks...these are such a Pain in the ass to paint.
Anyway...
Cheers!
Blue
Really nice bone color. I think we tend to see what we perceive as our own flaws more than others, this guy looks aces to me. I think your choice to play with color schemes and not be pigeon holed by fluff is the right one. Love to see where you go next.
ReplyDeletethanks Sean! As I move forward with this group I will probably try to pull off a "cooler" white armor as well. This one builds up from tan and cream...the next will build up from light grey.
DeleteFantastic Blue, I love the bone/off white so smooth :)
ReplyDeleteI have to say you're painting them the way I'll never have the balls to paint them. I really like how they all have their own character.
ReplyDeleteFantastic work.
Perhaps you need to change your name to : Ballessman? hahaha. Thanks bud.
DeleteI think the blue looks great mate!
ReplyDeleteReally well done :D I suppose you painted the Khorne follower with the pre-heresy WorldEater paint scheme ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Babba Fett one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous Blue, well done.
ReplyDeleteIm glad to see someone showing some common sense about those old backpacks too. They may be old and they have sentimentality attached, but they are soft detailed a big pain in the ass to paint.
I was just about to ask the question as to why Blue didn't like these old backpacks......I've never used them before. Their a right pain yeah?
DeleteYeah its the soft detail...its no fun to paint. I guess I have it figured out now but it still isn't fun.
DeleteI reckon this guy is my favourite of these three so far Blue. I really like the white/blue contrast.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work :)
These are so excellent. The style is very appealing.
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
Sorry to intrude. Would you be the same Knobgobbler from Vegas on the opponent finder? Lord of Excess just listed as being in Vegas and I could be talked into driving up for a game.
DeleteLooks great - like your colors!

I had never thought of using such a palette on these minis, you are widening my scope. Gorgeous work, thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteAs I'm not terribly familiar w the range I was going to ask about the backpack hatred but I suppose Chester (thank auto correct for that one, cheetor) is right as always. Regardless, very nice paint job. Carry on! :)
ReplyDeleteYes...these are the original plastic back packs that came with many of the Renegades...and the detail is very soft and confusing and not at all fun to paint. There is the rarer metal version which I'm constantly on the look out for that is considerably better...and then there is the option to use more modern backpacks...which I will be mixing in as I move forward with this project...I still have a lot of Renegades to go!
