Combat Cards: Space Wars...a review

As some of you may remember a few months ago I picked up several sets of the original Citadel Combat Cards for a pittance.  These were still new in the wrapper and I have left them that way as long as possible.  Well the time has come to open a pack and take a look...as I have been on a bit of a RT 40K right now I thought I would start with the Space Wars pack.

Lets have a look!

Here they are new in the package...yep!  Still on the card and everything!

Here is the back of the package which you can see has a brief set of rules for a simple card game using the combat cards.  Back in the day my boys and I played this game on a regular basis for a few weeks...I remember it being too basic to be interesting in the long term but we had fun with it for awhile...and lets face it the eye candy was the important part anyway...:)

Dead Lead...Casualty Figures Part 1

Once again life has been draining me of the will to write blog posts.  After spending most of my day in front of a computer screen I just have not had the inclination to do more of that when I get home.

Wah wah poor me...pity party over..:)

On to more interesting things.

While my figure painting and blog writing had been slow, somehow I've still found the time to keep adding new figures to my collection...yes yes I know you are surprised to hear that.... ;)

My latest addiction has been casualty figures.  Why?  I can't really say where the interest has come from but I'm just going with it.

Today I received two wounded brettonian figures from the 3rd ed era that I have been trying to track down for quite a while now...and thanks the that most gentlemanly of collectors...Bridgend Steve I now can cross them off my wants list!

The more dynamic of the two is this foot knight who has just taken an arrow to the chest...

Just a great sculpt that really tells a story... Here is the back view

...and here is a special treat that I wasn't expecting... Check out his tab...it made me chuckle.  A perfect example of British understatement!

And here is a picture of the othe figure Steve sent me...as you can see this poor bloke has already succumbed to his wounds.

I look forward to trying to work these guys into my Bret army or vignettes for future LPL entries.

I'm very happy to add these to the collection.  What's your take on casualty figures?  Cool?  Or waste of time?

Oh...and by the way...if you have any spare casualty figures...of any race...please let me know!

Cheers,

Blue

LPL Round 8: Retained Knights...on a smoke break...

Howdy all...sorry for the lack of blogage over the last few weeks...life has just been too hectic for me to spare the time.

...anyway...time to get back on that horse.

Well my LPL kind of fell apart this year...things had been going quite well until the second half of the contest.  After using the team of Averlanders for Round 7 I was able to complete one more new team for round 8 but after that I had to use two teams that had been previously displayed elsewhere...which means that they didn't receive the "new team" bonus points...which meant my standings in the polls continued to slide...:(

Oh well...as someone once told me..."Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"  (whistle....)  So lets forget about the above and take a look at the last new team I was able to complete for Round 8.
